LUSC Fall 2026 U6 Game Rules

• Format: 5v5, including goalkeeper
• Game Length: 2 halves of 16 minutes
• Halftime: 5 minutes
• Total Playing Time: 32 minutes
• Ball Size: Size 3
• Substitutions: Unlimited, during stoppages
• Offside: No offside
• Slide Tackling: Not allowed
• Throw-ins: Regular throw-ins; younger players may be allowed one retry for an incorrect throw
• Goal Kicks: Taken from the goal area
• Kickoffs: Opposing team must give appropriate space
• Fouls: Direct free kicks
• Penalty Kicks: Only for clear fouls inside the penalty area
• Goalkeeper: May use hands inside the penalty area
• Heading: No deliberate heading
• Shin Guards: Required
• Soccer Cleats: Required; no metal studs
• Jewelry: Not allowed during games
• Coaches: Remain on their team sideline
• Parents/Spectators: Remain on the opposite sideline from players and coaches
• Sportsmanship: No arguing with referees, coaches, players, or spectators
• Substitution/Playing Time: Coaches should rotate players and provide fair playing opportunities

Sportsmanship Rule: If a team builds a large lead, coaches should adjust play to keep the game competitive and positive for both teams.

• Shin guards
• Soccer cleats
• Water bottle
